Intercool Heat Transfer Fluids, Tri-Ethylene Glycol

Intercool NFE is an industrially inhibited ethylene glycol base fluid with an operating range of -60ºF to 250ºF. This carefully formulated heat transfer fluid is the standard for most industrial applications.

Intercool NFP is an industrially inhibited propylene glycol fluid with an operating range of -60ºF to 250ºF. This carefully formulated heat transfer fluid is the standard for most industrial applications where toxicity is a concern.

The 2 major differences between ethylene glycol and propylene glycol fluids are viscosity and toxicity. It should be noted that ethylene glycol is less viscous than propylene glycol, therefore, will provide better heat transfer efficiency and better low temperature performance, making it the preferred heat transfer fluid.

In applications where toxicity is a concern, propylene glycol which has very low chronic toxicity, is used over the moderately acute oral toxicity of ethylene glycol. Examples would be applications where accidental contact with food or beverage products might occur, or where contact with potable water is possible. In some areas propylene glycol use is mandated by law.

Intercool NFE and NFP are specifically formulated to protect such metals as brass, copper, copper alloys, steel, cast iron and aluminum. The inhibitor package has excellent buffering characteristics and will neutralize any corrosive acids while providing fluid stability.
